Ruleset & Format

Netplay specific

  • All games will be played on Faster Melee Version 5.8.7 (available in #Updates in the FM Discord: Each player can elect whether or not they wish to use UCF for themselves. (starts off by default, 2-frame dashback is toggled on with dpad left on the CSS and UCF shield drops are toggled on with dpas right on the CSS).
  • Competitors must have access to a stable connection (no WiFi!) and located in or near the tristate area. Ping should ideally not exceed 32, and ping consistently above 48 or often spiking may be grounds for disqualification. Ping exceeding 64 for more than a single spike will result in an immediate disqualification. If either player reports high or spiky ping, both players will connect to a Nebulous lobby and the player(s) unable to steadily maintain the connection described here will be disqualified.
  • All players must check in on the Nebulous Discord server prior at the beginning of the tournament as well as to report the results of each match.
  • If both players agree to do so, character picking, stage striking, and counterpicks can all be done in the Faster Melee netplay lobby. If this is not agreeable, for example, if a double-blind character selection is required, either player must notify the TO’s through the Nebulous Discord so they can facilitate the character selection/stage striking process, or they may challenge one another to a best of five exhibition match on Smashladder and use Smashladder’s API to facilitate picks and bans.

Any players in violation of these rules will be disqualified and will not be issued a refund. Any technical failure on your end results in a loss. A computer restart, internet cutting out, inability to get the client running with your opponent, etc. Do not make this tournament the first time you try to use Netplay.
